If you need a smaller size than that, I suggest you pick up a massager insert as that will decrease the flange size. Spectra offers 3 different breast shield sizes. This is the key piece in making the Spectra pump a closed system pump. Backflow Protector – This keeps the milk from having any contact with the tubing and pump motor.Valves – small plastic pieces that fit at the bottom of the flange that is fitted with a membrane to let the pumped milk fall into the collection bottle.Flanges – Also called breast shields, are the plastic, cone-shaped horns that fit over your breast.Tubing – This is simply a clear plastic tube that connects the pump motor to the flanges. Here is a quick rundown of the common Spectra pump parts: The Dew 350 has a few parts that differ but those are noted. One nice thing about the Spectra parts is that they are pretty much all the same for the S1, S2, Spectra 9, Dew 350 and the M1. Hopefully one day that will happen but for now, the internet is your best friend. You will not find Spectra parts being sold in stores in the US. If you have a Spectra breast pump, you might be on the hunt for some replacement parts or accessories. It also works out to be cheaper (even considering duties and shipping) than the pump in style if you buy it from bed bath and beyond with their 20% off discount.Find all your Spectra Pump Parts and Accessories here!! With that being said, I still prefer the spectra - the pump speeds are so much more customizable than the one speed on the Medela. I've heard that spectra also has a great warranty in the states, but that's not valid in Canada. This was not medela's fault at all, but they sent out a replacement box to me via FedEx, which arrived the next day. Someone had opened and returned the item with the wrong product inside, and the retailer hadn't checked before accepting it (the seal on the box was broken, but they had glue gunned it shut). For example, I bought a set of 27 mm flanges from babies r us via curbside pickup, but when I got home and opened the package, it turned out to be 30 mm flanges. If you have issues with the pump or any of the parts, they are very quick to send out replacement parts. Medela really does have excellent customer service. I really wish that I had just purchased one before baby arrived because I prefer the spectra so much more. When I was still pregnant, I had already decided that I wanted to go with a spectra s1 if I needed a pump, but did not buy one because I was too naive and optimistic in thinking that I would have no problems with breastfeeding. I purchased the Medela first because I desperately needed a pump that same day to relieve engorgement and hopefully build supply (this was around four days pp). I’d love to hear anyone’s experience with this particular pump! Is it that good? Are replacement parts easy to find? Does it last a long time? Is there a valid warranty for Canadians? I just want to know if it’s worth it to go to these lengths to buy this particular breast pump. They also mentioned that their insurance covered it (also Sunlife). I read another post on this sub by someone who ordered it from Buy Buy Baby in the States and used a shipping service. I keep seeing amazing reviews for the Spectra S1 on this sub and across different websites. All the reviews say that their pumps stop working after a few weeks/months and I want to avoid this kind of hassle. I looked up the Medela Style and it has horrible reviews, and the Medela Freestyle Flex has less bad reviews, but I’d have to pay more than $100 out of pocket for it. I have Sunlife insurance which covers up to $300, so I want to make the right choice. I have been tirelessly researching which breast pump to buy before baby comes.
